CODE OF CONDUCT
To ensure a safe, enjoyable environment, the Gaston County Family YMCA asks that all members, guests, volunteers and participants act in a responsible, respectful manner towards other people, equipment, and the facilities/properties. The Y reserves the right to revoke access for any person who does not demonstrate behavior that complies with our core values, or negatively interferes with the experience of other members and guests.
Our YMCA team asks for your support in helping foster an environment that is welcoming to all in our community. Together, we create a safe space where people of every background have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Membership Access and Code of Conduct
The YMCA reserves the right to deny access or membership to any person who has been accused or convicted of any crime involving sexual abuse, is, or has been, a registered sex offender, has been arrested for or convicted of any crime involving weapons, violence, sexual abuse, or the sale, possession and/or transportation of illegal drugs. While an incident is being investigated, the membership of the person(s) accused of violating this Code of Conduct may be temporarily suspended pending a final decision.
SAFETY AND SECURITY
The protection of our members, participants and staff is top priority at the Gaston County Family YMCA. To help us maintain a secure environment, please abide by the following policies:
- Membership card or valid photo ID must be presented at the Welcome Center upon each visit.
- Inappropriate use of cell phones, cameras or recording devices is not allowed.
- Filming/photography that takes place on YMCA property must be approved in advance by YMCA staff.
- Foul language, and other behaviors that are aggressive, threatening, destructive, or otherwise inappropriate are strictly prohibited.
- All YMCA campuses are drug, alcohol, weapon, tobacco and vape free.
- We highly recommend that you store all personal items in a locked locker while visiting. The Y is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Pets are not permitted on any Gaston County Family YMCA property (with the exception of ADA Service Dogs).
- All members, employees, and volunteers are screened against the national sex offender registry. The YMCA reserves the right to deny access to any person accused or convicted of a crime involving sexual abuse, or who is a registered sex offender.
GUEST POLICY
Guests are welcome to use any Gaston County Family YMCA.
- Guests accompanied by a Y Member will be charged $10 per person per visit.
- Guests not accompanied by a Y Member will be charged $20 per person per visit.
All guests must complete and sign the Guest Waiver form and show a picture ID. A responsible adult, parent, or guardian must sign in guests under the age of 18 and be present in the facility. For non-member groups/organizations that use or rent the facilities, an authorized representative of the group can sign 1 waiver on behalf of the entire group. For individuals, each participant should sign a waiver, including parents or guardians of minors. Some restrictions on guests accessing facilities or certain spaces due to heavy usage or seasonal programming may apply. Guests do not have access to childwatch services.
Please check with the facility before you arrive to see if any restrictions are in place.

IMPORTANT MEMBERSHIP AND PAYMENT INFORMATION
- Members of the same membership must reside at the same address
- Dependents are defined as 25 years & under living in the same household
- The primary party on the application determines the category and is responsible for payment
- Payment for membership must be made through a bank account or credit card draft
- All YMCA members, participants, and guests are screened by a Sex Offender Registry
CANCELLATION INFORMATION
Cancellation is easy, and you can do it at any time.
1. Cancel Online
Simply follow these steps:
- Go to Manage My Account
- Login into your YMCA Member Account
- Under the Membership section, click on "Manage"
- There you can select to Terminate or Place a Hold on your account.
Important Note: Please be aware that any membership cancellations or holds may take up to 48 hours to be reflected in your account. We appreciate your patience during this update process.

Important Note:
YMCA bank draft is a continuous membership plan. It is my understanding that if I wish to terminate or change my membership in any way, I must cancel my account online under Manage My Account or fill out a YMCA cancellation form in the branch no later than the last day of the month to be effective for the next month’s draft.

Every membership has a one-time $50 joining fee plus monthly dues.

Financial assistance is available for those who qualify, and members 62 and older save 10%.
Your membership gets you into the Cherryville, McGill, and Warlick Family YMCAs. It also includes YMCA360 virtual workouts, group exercise classes, and member discounts on many programs. Some classes require a reservation. Families can use Childwatch for up to 90 minutes a day while a parent or guardian is on site. Both the adult and the child must be active members. Check out the Childwatch webpage for specific ages and hours for each location.
Cherryville: cardio and strength equipment, functional training, group exercise, gym, pickleball, Peloton virtual cycling, Childwatch, and a seasonal community pool
McGill in Belmont: indoor pool, seasonal outdoor water park, gym, cardio and strength equipment, EGYM smart strength, sauna, steam room, family locker room, pickleball, outdoor basketball court, playground, and Childwatch
Warlick in Gastonia: two indoor pools (a zero-depth recreation pool and a 25-yard lap pool), indoor track, gym, cardio and strength equipment, sauna, steam room, pickleball, Childwatch, seasonal access to Robinwood Lake with kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing, and walking trails

Yes. You can visit all three of our branches, plus participating Ys across the country through Nationwide Membership. At least 51% of your visits need to be at your home Y, and program discounts only apply here at home. Before you travel, ask Member Services to confirm you’re eligible, and check the visiting Y’s rules.
Everyone! The Y welcomes individuals and families of all ages, incomes, backgrounds, and faiths. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. All members and guests follow our conduct and safety policies, including age and supervision rules for certain spaces and activities.
A family membership covers up to two adults plus dependents aged 25 and under who live at the same address. To add or remove someone, visit Member Services.
Yes. If you qualify for financial assistance, you can save up to 35% on membership dues and most program fees. Apply through our confidential online application and reapply each year. Members 62 and older save 10% with the code SENIOR online or by joining at a branch. Some local employers offer corporate membership savings, and Y employees receive a free membership.
Yes. We accept SilverSneakers, Silver & Fit, Renew Active, and Active & Fit. Bring your insurance card to any branch and our staff will check whether your plan qualifies. Questions? Email sdavidson@gastonymca.org.
Individual memberships start at age 12. Age and supervision rules vary by space and activity, so contact your branch to find out which areas and classes your child can use and whether an adult needs to be with them.
Yes. A day pass is $20 per person, per visit. Bring a photo ID and fill out a guest waiver. Minors need adult supervision, and some areas may be limited to members, so check with your branch before you come.
Yes. Guests visiting with a member pay $10 per person, per visit. Guests sign a waiver and show a photo ID. Anyone under 18 must be signed in by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult who stays in the building. Guests can’t use Childwatch, and the McGill outdoor water park is members only on weekends and holidays.

Dues are drafted automatically on the 1st of each month from a credit card, debit card, or checking account. There’s no annual contract. Your membership continues month to month until you cancel. You can update your payment information online or with Member Services before the 1st.
Yes. You can put your membership on hold for up to three months, either online or through Member Services. While it’s on hold, you’ll pay a $5 monthly fee instead of your regular dues. Contact Member Services before your next billing date to confirm when your hold starts.
You can cancel through your online membership account or in person at any branch. Contact Member Services to confirm the date your cancellation takes effect and whether you’ll have one more payment.
