The Annual Giving Campaign supports community initiatives such as Safety Around Water, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, Afterschool and Summer Day Camp, Teen Programming, and Evidence Based Health Interventions to address critical needs here in Gaston County. The Y's Annual Giving Campaign funds also provide financial assistance for Y membership and programs. Financial assistance gives kids, teens, families, adults, and seniors support that aligns with their household income, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to reach their personal life goals.

Stowe Renovation and Expansion
Capital Campaign
The Stowe Family YMCA Capital Campaign aims to enhance and expand our current facility; with the proper space and facilities, we can do even more of the great work we're known for. This Capital Campaign supports over 15,000 square feet of brand-new space and a renovation of 37,000 square feet of existing space. The Capital Campaign allows for both one-time gifts and multi-year pledges! Every dollar brings us one step closer to our goal, ensuring that we can provide essential resources and life-enriching programs to all.

Many of our programs are 100% supported by our Annual Giving Campaign making them completely free to participants.
- The Safety Around Water (SAW) Program has saved over 200 children from drowning
- 2,000+ FREE meals have been provided to children while school is out of session
- More than 50 seniors have improved their health through EVIDENCE Based Health Interventions
- The LIVESTRONG program has supported over 100 cancer survivors
- More than 200 children have been given a safe space to learn, grow, and thrive after school hours and throughout the summer
- Countless children have learned life lessons through participation in sports programs

Supported By Our Annual Giving Campaign
Evidence-Based Health Interventions
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA - This crucial program provides counseling, coaching, and support for cancer survivors and their families and is fully funded by the Annual Giving Campaign.
Moving for Better Balance - This instructor led group program is designed to improve strength, balance, flexibility, mobility through Tai Chi based movements.
Enhance Fitness Express - This program has been nationally recognized as a safe and effective physical activity program for older adults by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, US Department of Health and Human Services, US Administration on Aging, and the National Council on Aging.
Blood Pressure Self Monitoring - This 4-month program provides participants access to a trained Healthy Heart Ambassador who will aid in ongoing self-monitoring and nutrition planning and serve as a personal support coach throughout.
Safety Around Water
(SAW)
Safety Around Water - Drowning is the leading cause of death in children ages 1-4 (outside of birth defects). The Safety Around Water (SAW) drowning prevention program is working to change this statistic! This lifesaving program is funded by our Annual Giving Campaign and completely free to participants.
Youth and Teen Programming
Summer at the Y - Our program is designed to provide a safe and fun environment where kids can learn, grow, and explore the world around them. Our counselors are dedicated to ensuring that every child feels welcome, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
Afterschool at the Y - The YMCA is committed to providing children with a safe and positive experience while promoting unity, acceptance, and fostering a sense of self. Our Afterschool program reinforces academics through a variety of fun and engaging structured activities, and provides time for homework, a snack, and physical activities and sports.
Teen Mental Health Awareness - The Y recognizes the significant impact that experiences tied to identity, real-life events, and stress have on young people’s mental health. Therefore, we are committed to doing everything possible to de-stigmatize mental health issues, support the different communities we serve, and provide the education and resources our young people are looking for.
