Welcome to the McGill Family YMCA
On March 19, our community gathered for a moment we will never forget.
At the ribbon cutting for our newly expanded facility, we proudly announced that the Stowe Family YMCA is now the McGill Family YMCA.
While the name has changed, the heart behind this place remains exactly the same.
Honoring a Legacy: The Stowe Family
For years, the Stowe Family YMCA has been a cornerstone of the Belmont community.
Because of the Stowe family’s vision and generosity, this YMCA became a place where:
- Families found connection
- Children discovered confidence
- Individuals grew stronger in spirit, mind, and body
Their legacy is deeply woven into the foundation of this building and the lives it has impacted. That legacy will continue to live on in every program, every story, and every person who walks through our doors.
A New Chapter: The McGill Family YMCA
As we look ahead, we are proud to carry this mission forward under a new name, the McGill Family YMCA.
This name honors John McGill, whose leadership and dedication to our capital campaign helped bring this expansion to life. His commitment to strengthening our community has made a lasting impact on what this YMCA can offer today and for generations to come.
We are equally grateful for Beth McGill, whose involvement and care for our community reflect the same spirit of service and generosity that defines the YMCA.
Together, the McGill family represents a shared belief in investing in people, strengthening families, and building a better future for our community.
Celebrating a Milestone
Our ribbon cutting event marked the completion of an exciting expansion designed to serve even more people in our community.
New additions include:
- Outdoor pickleball and basketball courts
- A new multipurpose gymnasium named in honor of Dr. Steve Hannon of Hannon Orthodontics
- An expanded CaroMont ChildWatch
- New program classrooms
- The Danny Meyers Community Room
- A beautiful new chapel space for fellowship
- Expanded lobby and gathering spaces
This was a powerful celebration of community, generosity, and what’s possible when we come together.
Looking Ahead
While this moment marks the completion of our expansion, we’re not done yet.
Phase 3 is already underway, bringing renovations to our existing facility and further enhancing the experience for our members. These updates are expected to be completed later this year.
Same Heart. New Name. Bright Future.
The McGill Family YMCA will continue to be:
A place for youth development
A hub for healthy living
A center for connection and belonging
This building may have a new name, but the mission remains unchanged.
We are so grateful to the Stowe family, the McGill family, and every member of our community who continues to make the YMCA a place where lives are changed every day.
