Frequently Asked Questions

EGYM is open to all Gaston County Family YMCA members once they complete onboarding.

There's a one-time $20 onboarding fee, and it includes your RFID wristband. You don't pay a monthly fee after that.

You can register online here or at the McGill front desk.

You'll meet with a coach for 30 minutes to create your profile, complete a quick body scan, link your wristband, and do short strength tests on each machine. Then you'll review your results and your personal training plan in the EGYM Fitness app.

EGYM is currently only at the McGill Family YMCA.

No. The machines adjust to you, and the screen guides you through every exercise.

A typical full-body workout takes about 20–30 minutes.

Start at the Chest Press and move counterclockwise, doing one set per machine. Please don't skip machines, and finish the full circuit before leaving or starting another round. When the machine screen turns orange, it's time to train. When it turns blue, switch to the next machine. If the circuit is full, please hold off on strength tests. Your coach will walk you through all of this during onboarding.

Download the EGYM Fitness app and choose Gaston County Family YMCA. Every workout saves automatically, and after every 6 workouts, you'll be asked to take a new strength test so your training stays in step with your progress.

Talk to any McGill Fitness Floor staff member. We're happy to help.
