At the Gaston County Family YMCA, we believe the best partnerships are built on relationships—and Dr. Mark Epsteinand the team at TotalBond Veterinary Hospitals at Forestbrook embody that wholeheartedly. Dr. Epstein’s connection to the Y runs deep. From playing youth soccer at his local YMCA in Atlanta, to coaching youth leagues in Gastonia, to now cheering on his grandson as a Y T-ball player—his story is a full-circle moment of community, commitment, and care.

“In truth, my relationship with the Y goes way back,” Dr. Epstein shared. “And now, my 3-year-old grandson Ethan is out there on the field—carrying on the tradition.”

A Mission Rooted in Compassion

Dr. Epstein first came to Gastonia to work at Forestbrook Animal Hospital, and stayed—building what would grow into seven TotalBond Veterinary Hospitals across Gaston, Mecklenburg, and York counties. Their mission? To Advance and Enhance the Human–Animal Bond through superior, Relationship-Centered Pet Health Care. Whether they’re treating a beloved family pet or sponsoring a youth T-ball team, their philosophy is the same: relationships make the difference.

Making Their Corner Better

Dr. Epstein humbly says his goal is simply to “make my little corner a little better.” But from contributing to the Warlick YMCA’s development, to supporting youth sports, to fostering community connections—the impact TotalBond makes goes far beyond their corner.

As Dr. Epstein puts it:

“It makes us all better.”
