Community Partner Spotlight: Tails R Waggin’ Day Spa & Resort

Supporting Community, One Wag at a Time

At the Gaston County Family YMCA, we believe our community is strongest when everyone—families, businesses, and even pets—comes together to create something meaningful. That’s why we’re proud to shine a light on Tails R Waggin’ Day Spa & Resort, a local business that’s not only caring for your furry friends but also deeply invested in the heart of Gaston County.

Founded in 2008, Tails R Waggin’ has grown into a trusted and beloved destination for dog daycare, grooming, and overnight boarding. But for managing partner Kim Dellinger and manager Leah Reynolds, their mission goes far beyond pet care—it’s about compassion, connection, and community.

A Partnership That Started with a Summer Camp Smile

Tails R Waggin’s partnership with the Y began with something beautifully simple: a moment of joy.

“We saw the incredible impact the YMCA had on our daughter during summer camp—how she grew in confidence, made new friends, and had a space to just be herself,” Kim shared. “Now our son plays T-ball with the Y, and we continue to see the value it brings to families like ours.”

Their passion for supporting others has led them to sponsor events like Ladies Night Out, Fall Fest, and the LIVESTRONG® program for cancer survivors—helping individuals rebuild their strength physically, emotionally, and mentally in a caring environment.

More Than a Business, A Beacon for Good

Behind the scenes, Tails R Waggin’ is constantly lifting up the community:

  • They support Webb Street School by helping students sell homemade dog treats to build skills and confidence.
  • They partner with The Carlee Cause Foundation, helping grieving pet owners and ensuring dogs in foster care find loving homes.
  • They collect donations for The Lighthouse during the holidays to make sure every child has a joyful season.
  • They back Nita’s Silent Hands, working to bridge the gap between Deaf and hearing communities.

This commitment to service reflects the very best of Gaston County—and the very heart of the Y. “We’re not striving to build a legacy with our name on it,” Kim says. “We want to lift the spirit of the community, one person at a time.”

Shared Values, Shared Vision

The team at Tails R Waggin’ lives the values we hold dear at the YMCA: kindness, service, and showing up for those who need it. Whether it’s through community events, daily pet care, or wellness routines at the Y, they lead with heart in everything they do. We’re proud to call Tails R Waggin’ a true Community Partner—and even prouder to call them part of our Y family.
