Following the Gaston County Schools and Piedmont Community Charter Schools calendar
Ages served: Grades K-8th
Hours of Operation: 5 days per week from school dismissal through 6:00pm
We also offer care on Teacher Work Days and School Breaks.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Afterschool typically goes on a waitlist very quickly. It is in your best interest to register early. You may experience temporary registration holds and waitlists as we attempt to accommodate everyone we can.
Excel After the Bell!
Our Afterschool Care program provides a nurturing and supportive environment for children to thrive outside of regular school hours. With a focus on academic enrichment, social development, and engaging activities, we ensure that children continue to learn and grow in a fun-filled setting. Our dedicated staff members create a safe space where children can receive homework assistance, participate in stimulating projects, and engage in recreational activities. Join our Afterschool Care program and give your child the opportunity to excel academically, build lasting friendships, and develop essential life skills.
YMCA Afterschool provides care when school is out following both the Gaston County Schools and Piedmont Community Charter School calendars in six locations throughout Gaston County. Space is limited and all students must be registered to attend.

Registration and Fees
5 Days per Week
YMCA Members $73 | Program Participants $108
One-time only $25 registration fee is also applied.
Weekly payments are drafted on the Friday prior to the start of the week. Registration is not prorated based on attendance.

Out of School Days
The Gaston County Family YMCA offers child care options for school-aged children while Gaston County Schools are out for schedule breaks like Spring Break and Holidays. Please take a moment to review the dates available.
Out-of-school days are not included in Afterschool registration or pricing. Out-of-school days require separate/additional registration to secure your child’s spot.

What if my school is not listed here?
- If your school is not listed, the YMCA can not serve your child with transportation to fill your afterschool needs at this time.
- Parents/guardians are welcome to transport their child to the YMCA to participate in the program. Please contact us to confirm this option.
- Five children are needed to register per location to ensure transportation is available.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Financial Assistance is available to YMCA Members. These funds are raised during the Annual Giving Campaign. We encourage people to complete the online application process. The process is simple and confidential.
