Karyae Park - Rentals, Outdoor Education

Welcome to the new Karyae Park YMCA Outdoor Family Center. In the early 1920s, the Adelphotis Arahovitan Karyae fraternal order of the Carolinas aquired 52 acres of wilderness in Southwest Gaston County near the base of Crowders Mountain. During the years, this Greek organization created a beautiful park designed for their family gatherings. Many others from Gaston County and beyond have enjoyed numerous events, family reunions, and corporate functions. Since January 2005, the Gaston County Family YMCA continue this tradition  in collaboration for many years to come.

What does the Karyae Park YMCA Outdoor Family Center feature?

The center features a conference room, ball fields, new KaBoom playground, pond, Chapel, large shelter, full kitchen, gymnasium/pavilion, outdoor basketball and volleyball courts, hiking trails, horseshoes bocce ball court, picnic areas, and a brand new low ropes teambuilding course, minutes from Crowders Mountain.

Please note that the park is available for one group at at time, however, groups can reserve the park for different times during the course of the day. This calendar is updated on a weekly basis and subject to change. A date may be reserved and not marked on the calendar. Who is this for?

Any company, school, church, non-profit, or family that wants to host an event. YMCA youth sports, family events, Adventure Guides, teen programs, and summer camp programs will also utilize the facility.

What do we do?

If you are interested in hosting an event, please submit the form on page two to the South Gaston YMCA. Afterwards, a meeting and tour of the outdoor center may be scheduled to see if your needs would be met.

Group rentals and the ropes course is scheduled at the Central Branch. Only one group will utilize the park at any given time. Weekend space is limited, especially in the Fall and Spring.

Located at 4227 South Linwood Rd in Gastonia, North Carolina. From Downtown Gastonia, take Franklin Blvd-US 74 to South  Linwood Road approximately 5 miles. The Outdoor Center will be on your left before Camp Rotary Road. From other areas, please contact the Central YMCA at (704) 865-8551. 

Cost

All rental fees would be based on the estimated number attending, what facilities will be utilized, and the number of staff needed to assist. Additional cost for use of the kitchen, outdoor grill, and public address music system may incur. Contact Steve D'Avria at (704) 865-2193 for details.
