WELCOME - The Gaston County Family YMCA is dedicated to providing high quality, affordable, age-appropriate after school care for your child when you cannot be there yourself. Our values-based programs, enhancing the child’s spiritual, physical, social, intellectual and emotional growth, have been shown to improve school attendance, conduct and relationships with adults. The “Everybody Plays, Everybody Wins” approach allows your child to enjoy success in a variety of activities, including arts, sports, outdoor education, academics, and relationships. The YMCA Afterschool program is open to all. Financial assistance is available.

WHEN - After School Care operates from school dismissal until 6:00 PM, along with all day care during Teacher Work Days. The program follows the Gaston County School Calendar.

WHERE – East Elementary, Bessemer City Primary, Costner, and Tryon Elementary

Pick Up Sites (Students at these sites are picked up and travel to East Elementary)

- John Chavis Middle School

School Based Sites (Students remain at site with YMCA staff and programs)

- Bessemer City Primary

- Cherryville

- Costner**

- Tryon

- Bessemer City Intermediate (to Bessemer Cirty Primary)

Cost of program 

Registration Fee: $22.50 before June 30th, $45 after
Weekly Fee: (school based sites) $45 per week members, $65 non members

(YMCA based sites) $55 per week members, $75 non members
35% off for Children of Full time Gaston County Schools employees
